Now that Labor Day has come and gone, we expect the flow of new federal funding opportunities to increase. We'll wait with bated breath to see what next week brings.

This week, the quantity of grants remains low, but the quality of funding programs is good. We've highlighted a few opportunities below or you can review the entire list here. 

Department of Health and Human Services
Grant Title: Delta States Rural Development Network Grant Program

Details: 
The program supports the development of integrated health care networks to address unmet local healthcare needs and prevalent health disparities in rural communities in the eight Delta States (Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee) The program supports organizations that promote the planning, implementation, and development of health care networks to achieve efficiencies, expand access to, and improve the quality of essential health care services and strengthen the rural healthcare system as a whole.

Department of Veterans Affairs
Grant Title:  Grants for Transportation of Veterans in Highly Rural Areas

Details: 
Highly Rural Transportation Grants (HRTG) is a grant-based program that helps veterans in highly rural areas travel to VA or VA-authorized healthcare facilities. This program provides grant funding to Veteran Service Organizations and State Veterans Service Agencies to provide transportation services in eligible counties. Current HRTG grantees should not apply under this funding announcement. 

Department of Agriculture
Grant Title: Distance Education Grants Program for Institutions of Higher Education in Insular Areas

Details: 
The purpose of this program is strengthen the capacity of institutions of higher education in insular areas to carry out resident instruction, curriculum, and teaching programs in the food and agricultural sciences through distance education technology. The program is a NIFA-administered competitive grants program focused on improving formal, postsecondary agricultural sciences education.
