This week the National Institute of Food and Agriculture is providing funding to encourage the participation of women and underrepresented minorities from rural areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields that are relevant to USDA. A grant had just been announced to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards by assisting fire prevention programs and supporting firefighter health and safety research and development. Money is being awarded to support research on the criminal justice system's responses to intimate partner violence, teen dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking, generally, and related to violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women.
